  52. Quick Start: How to Install it
  53. ----- -----  --- -- ------- --

  55. 1.  Copy all files (total: 13) into one diskette including 
  56.     
  57.     DISK.ID       nfs.dm_      SETUP.EXE      
  58.     wnfs.exe      exports      hosts
  59.     INSTALL.DAT   pcnfsd.c     readme.txt      
  60.     wnfsd.exe     xlink.ini    demord._

  63.     after unpacking nfs-demo.zip.

  66. 2.  Put this diskette into Drive A (B), and type a(b):\setup
  67.  
  68.    Then  following instruction to complete the installation.
  69.    Installation will create group icon for the application.

  71. 3. Execute the 'NFS client', 'Printer router', and 'NFS and Printer Server'.
  72.  
  73.    You can run them from the File Manager, or restart Windows, or click on 
  74.    the icons, whatever.

  76. 4. Consult Online help for detail instructions.

  78. Setup Network Printer Systems Before running NFS Printer
  79. ----- ------ -------- ------- ------- ------ --- -------
  80. Installing pcnfsd on UNIX
  81.  
  82. It is required, that you have pcnfsd running on the remote UNIX system before 
  83. you can use Network Printer Systems (NFS Printer) if you are mounting a 
  84. printer redirect. If a pcnfsd is currently running, there is no need to 
  85. install another one. You can check for a running pcnfsd either with the UNIX 
  86. command ps that prints a list of all currently running processes or by 
  87. editing the /etc/inetd.conf-file and looking for a line that contains the 
  88. pcnfsd command.
  89.  
  90. To install pcnfsd you will have to transfer pcnfsd.c to the UNIX system and 
  91. compile it to make it operational.
  92.  
  93. Following is the procedure for installing pcnfsd.c. This example assumes that 
  94. your PC has ftp and telnet applications and sparc is the UNIX host on which 
  95. to install pcnfsd:
  96.  
  97. 1.      Insert Omni-NFS  floppy # 1 into the floppy drive and type in the 
  98.     following commands:
  99.     
  100.     C:\>ftp sparc
  101.     >user: (enter your login name)
  102.     >password: (enter your password)
  103.     >cd /usr/xlink
  104.     >put a:pcnfsd.c pcnfsd.c
  105.     >quit
  106.     C:\>

  108. 2.      This will copy the source file to your UNIX system.  After this 
  109.     you have to compile the program and start it:

  111.     C:\>telnet sparc
  112.     : (enter login name and password)
  113.     %cc -o pcnfsd pcnfsd.c

  120. The important things you Need to Know
  121. - --- ----- ------ --- ---- -- ----
  122. 1. Since these programs are demo version, please be aware that it will 
  123.    automatically pop up "warning message" to hold down the system
  124.    after 20 minutes while you are running NFS/Win. To prevent this 
  125.    issue, you need to restart your application every 20 minutes.

  127. 2. To get rid of these issues above, you need to issue the order to get 
  128.    the regular copy from XLink Technology, Inc.  Detail shown below.

  165.      A site license is defined as being a sale to an organization or 
  166.      company, and may not be resold or redistributed for profit. It may 
  167.      only be used within that organization.

  170.      Your site license will give you support for up to 12 months from 
  171.      the date of purchase. Such support will include upgrades and bug 
  172.      fixes within that 12 months within the constraints of the program's
  173.      existing capabilities.  Future upgrades will be 20% of the original
  174.      license fee per annum.  Arrangements will also be made for conversion
  175.      of smaller licenses to larger ones.
